Health Insurance Companies and H1N1

Health Insurance Companies will not cover H1N1: this was a declaration made yesterday on one of the local Lebanese TV channels. The reason is that “H1N1 is not an illness, but a pandemic”. I think there is no need to write more on this post. This makes us wonder about the leitmotiv of any insurance company that abides by this dictate. What comes first, the wellbeing of the individual who, as per the Declaration of Human Rights, has a right to health, or money? The only way I can rephrase the statement is by saying: "we are sorry, H1N1 will be costly for us to handle so, unless you can afford it, we really do not care if you suffer or die."
Do these people deserve to be recognized or punished?

I leave the matter in the hands of a public that should start to act and a government that should wake up from its dogmatic slumbers!

  1. We lebanese only do a riot for a certain party down town! when it really matters, we are ignorant and we do nothing! STUPID people. we will never become civlized and our rights will alwais be not respected. Our mistake. As the old saying goes: Who made Faroun Faroun? there was no one to stop him!

  2. It is painful to think about how many issues and problems actually warrant -arguably violent- rioting in this stupid little country we call home and can't live without. This latest addition, while outrageous, is not a surprise to me simply because it goes so well with the creed and philosophy of insurance companies, which circles not around health and life, but about simple numbers and profit...
    It's a shame. Sad.
